- Fold a square of paper into a small triangle.
- Snip small shapes out of the edges. Ask: What shape will it make when you open it?
- Snip the tip off the point for a hole in the middle.
- Unfold it slowly for the big reveal.
- Make a second one with big, bold cuts. Ask: Is it the same as the first one?
- Hold one up to the light and look through the holes.
- Tape them to a window.
- Make a snowflake for everyone in the house, and fill a whole window! Ask: How many snowflakes make a blizzard?
Play it again
- Snowflake swap: everyone makes one, then mix them up and guess who made which.
- Giant snowflake: use a big sheet of paper and make one for the front door.
- Rainbow flakes: color the paper before you fold it.
