What you need
- Paper bag
- Paper, scrap paper to stuff, and a green sheet for the leaf
- Crayons or markers
- Painter's tape
How to do it
Grown-up prep: Open one paper bag per kid. Have scrap paper ready to crumple.
- Open your bag and stand it up on the table.
- Crumple paper into balls and stuff the bag until it's round. Ask: How many balls does it take to fill it?
- Squish the bag so it's round and lumpy like a real pumpkin.
- Twist the top into a stem and tape it.
- Color it orange and draw a face: happy, silly or spooky.
- Add a leaf or a curly vine with green paper.
- Line them up for your pumpkin patch.
- Now show your friends, or make more! How spooky can you make the next pumpkin? Ask: How many pumpkins will you end up making for your pumpkin patch?
Play it again
- Pumpkin family: make a big one, a medium one and a tiny one.
- Spooky contest: everyone makes the spookiest face they can, and the family votes.
- Pumpkin hunt: hide the pumpkins around the room and take turns finding them.
