Here's one to try together!

Safety first
- Food allergy mention: peanut is one of the foods named, though only as a drawing or word, not actual food
- Crayons and paper scraps could be a mouth-placement risk for very young children
What you need
- Paper, 10 scraps
- Crayons or markers, a few
How to do it
Grown-up prep: Tear or cut about 10 paper scraps and grab some crayons. Pick a flat spot for four piles. You can make the cards ahead of time for a waiting room.
- Pick a food and draw it on a paper scrap.
- Keep going until you have 10 food cards.
- Set up four piles: underground, tree, vine, and bush or plant.
- Say the pile names out loud and act each one out.
- Shuffle your cards and flip one over. Ask: Where do you think this food grows?
- Put the card in the pile where you think it grows.
- Sort all the cards the same way. Ask: Which pile has the most cards so far?
- Check your answers together, one pile at a time.
- Now show a friend your piles, or draw more foods! What will you add next? Ask: Which new food do you want to find out about?
Play it again
- Mystery card: hold a card behind your back and give clues until someone guesses where it grows.
- Beat the timer: sort all 10 cards before a song ends, then check your answers.
- New foods: draw 10 brand new foods and see which pile grows the biggest.
