Safety first
- Scissors are sharp: stay close while kids cut
- Cotton balls and short bits of yarn are a choking size for under 3s: keep them out of reach
What you need

- Crayons or markers
- Glue stick, 1
- Kid scissors, 1 pair per crafter
- Paper, a big handful of colorful scraps
- Cotton balls, 5 to 10 (optional)

How to do it
Grown-up prep: Gather paper, crayons or markers, a glue stick, kid scissors and a pile of paper scraps. Cotton balls and yarn are fun extras, but keep them away from toddlers and babies, since small bits can be a choking risk and yarn strands can tangle.
- Draw a big turkey with a round body, a head and tail feathers.
- Choose a secret costume for your turkey to hide in. Ask: If you were a turkey, what would you dress up as so nobody could find you?
- Cut costume pieces from paper scraps, cotton and yarn.
- Glue the pieces onto your turkey with a glue stick.
- Color in the extra details with crayons or markers.
- Give your disguised turkey a brand new secret name.
- Tell your family the story of how your turkey hid. Ask: Who was your turkey hiding from, and did the disguise trick them?
- Hang up the turkeys and let everyone guess each disguise.
- Make another turkey, or invite someone new to join you! Ask: What sneaky disguise will your next turkey wear?
Play it again
- Mystery round: keep the costume secret and give your family three clues before they guess.
- Swap shop: trade turkeys with someone and add one more surprise to their disguise.
- Camouflage challenge: dress the turkey to match a spot in your home, then hide it there for others to find.
