Roll a Snowman Dice Race
Here's one to try together!
Roll the die, draw the part, and race to build a whole snowman before anyone else!

Safety first
- A die is a choking size for under 3s: keep it out of reach
What you need
- Die, 1
- Paper, 1 sheet per player
- Crayons or markers, a handful
How to do it
Grown-up prep: Find one die, a sheet of paper for each player and a pile of crayons or markers. Keep the die away from babies and toddlers, since it is small enough to swallow.
- Grab a sheet of paper and some crayons, then sit around the table.
- Learn the snowman code so every number means a snowman part.
- Roll the die and hunt for a 1 to start your base. Ask: Which number do you hope to roll first, and why?
- Build your body in order: base first, then middle, then head.
- Rolled a part you already have, or cannot use yet? Pass the die.
- Add your hat, face, arms and buttons whenever you roll them. Ask: Whose snowman do you think will be finished first?
- Finish all six parts? Shout "Let it snow!" to win the round.
- Play again, or teach someone new! How big can your snowman family grow? Ask: Which part was the hardest to roll, and what would you add to your next snowman?
Play it again
- Scarf bonus: play with two dice and draw a scarf whenever you roll doubles.
- Snow dog: swap the snowman for a snow dog with a body, head, ears, tail, face and legs.
- Snowstorm round: everyone rolls at the same time and draws as fast as they can.
