How to do it

Grown-up prep: Set aside about 90 minutes. Kids do the mixing, kneading and topping, and you handle the hot oven and take out the pizzas.

  1. Read the recipe together and line up all your ingredients.
  2. Measure the ingredients and stir them into a soft dough.
  3. Set the timer for eight minutes and knead: push, fold, turn!
Ask: What do you think the dough will feel like after eight minutes of kneading?
  4. Pop the dough in the bowl, cover it and let it rise.
  5. Poke the dough, then punch it down gently.
Ask: Does the dent spring back or stay put? What does that tell us?
  6. A grown-up preheats the oven to 425°F. A grown-up does this
  7. Stretch the dough into round pizza bases.
  8. Spread on the sauce, then sprinkle cheese and toppings.
  9. Bake at 425°F for 12 to 15 minutes, until the crust is golden. A grown-up does this
  10. Taste your pizza and share it! What will you make next time?
Ask: Which part was your favorite, and what toppings will you try on your next pizza?

Play it again

  • Shape shop: stretch the dough into hearts, stars or animals before topping.
  • Pizza faces: make a funny face using veggies and cheese for eyes, nose and smile.
  • Mini pizzas: roll small balls of dough and make a pizza for everyone at the table.
