Numbered Paper Turkey Hunt
Here's one to try together!
Ten sneaky paper turkeys are hiding around the house. Can you find them all and line them up from 1 to 10?

Safety first
- Scissors are sharp: a grown-up does the cutting
- Hide turkeys low: nobody climbs to reach a hiding spot
- Paper scraps are a choking size for under 3s: put them straight in the bin
What you need
- Paper, 3 or 4 sheets
- Kid scissors, 1 pair, for the grown-up
- Crayons or markers, a handful of colors
- Phone, 1, as a timer (optional)
How to do it
Grown-up prep: Grab paper, crayons and scissors, then think of ten low hiding spots around the house before you start.
- Trace your hand ten times to make ten turkeys.
- A grown-up cuts out all ten turkeys. A grown-up does this
- Write one number from 1 to 10 on each turkey. Ask for help if you need it
- Cover your eyes and count to 30 while the turkeys hide. Ask: Where do you think a sneaky turkey would hide in our house?
- Listen to a riddle clue for where a turkey is hiding.
- Start the timer and hunt until all ten turkeys are found!
- Line up your turkeys in order from 1 to 10. Ask: Which turkey comes right after number 5? Is any number missing?
- Swap! You hide the turkeys and make up clues for a grown-up.
- Who can beat the fastest time? Invite someone new to hunt your flock! Ask: What was the trickiest hiding spot, and where will you hide them next time?
Play it again
- Order only: you must find turkey 1 before turkey 2, and so on up to 10.
- Hot and cold: no riddles, just say "warmer" or "colder" as the hunter gets close.
- Odd turkeys out: hide only the odd or only the even numbers and guess which ones are missing.
