How to do it

Grown-up prep: No supplies needed. Find a quiet spot where you both have room to stand or sit, and plan to do three rounds together.

  1. Find a cozy spot with room to wiggle your arms.
  2. Hold a pretend lemon in each hand.
  3. Squeeze your fists tight for a count of five. One, two, three, four, five!
Ask: Can you feel your arms getting tight and strong?
  4. Drop the lemons and let your hands go floppy.
  5. Raise your shoulders all the way up to your ears.
  6. Let your shoulders drop down. Ahhh, so relaxed.
Ask: Where do you feel the calm showing up in your body?
  7. Do it all again for three rounds together.
  8. Now teach a friend, or squeeze more lemons! Can you make them extra sour?
Ask: Who will you share your lemon squeeze with next?

Play it again

  • Toe lemons: squeeze pretend lemons with your toes and tummy too, then melt.
  • Kid in charge: you lead the whole routine and count out loud for the grown-ups.
  • Sleepy slow-mo: do every squeeze and drop in super slow motion, like a sleepy otter.
