Ghost Face Bowling
Here's one to try together!
Draw silly ghosts, line them up, and roll a ball to make them all shout boo!
Reviewed by our team.
Safety first
- Markers or crayons may be mouthed by very young children, so supervise toddlers
- Rolling ball in a hallway may cause tripping or slipping
- Plastic bottles could have small caps, which are a choking hazard; leave the caps off
- Toddlers need adult supervision
What you need
- Cardboard tubes or plastic bottles, 10
- Crayons or markers, 1 handful
- Paper, 1 sheet or more for scores
- Painter's tape, 1 strip for the starting line (optional)
- Ball, 1 soft ball
How to do it
Grown-up prep: Gather 10 cardboard tubes or empty plastic bottles. If using bottles, leave the caps off, since caps are a choking hazard. Clear a hallway of shoes and rugs.
- Draw a ghost face on every tube or bottle.
- Stand your ghosts in a triangle at the hallway end.
- Pick your starting line and stand behind it.
- Try a practice roll to warm up. Ask: What happens if you roll slow, and what if you roll fast?
- Take two rolls on your turn and see how many ghosts fall.
- Shout BOO for every ghost that falls down! Ask: Can you make your boo sound like a tiny ghost or a giant one?
- Write your score on the paper, then stand the ghosts up.
- Now play again, or invent your own ghost bowling rule! Ask: Can you beat your first score, or make a new ghost team?
Play it again
- Ghost colors: draw ghosts in two colors and see which team falls more.
- Sneaky ghosts: roll the ball very slowly and try to knock down just one.
- Spooky rolls: bowl from a different spot, like sitting down or from the side.
