What you need

  • Paper, 1 sheet, rolled into a microphone (optional)

How to do it

Grown-up prep: No setup needed. Just find a cozy spot where everyone can sit in a circle or line up like a news crew.

  1. Choose one person to be the first friendly monster.
  2. Reporters, grab a pretend microphone and get ready to ask questions.
  3. Monster, make up your monster name and tell us where you live.
  4. Warm up your silly monster voice together.
  5. Reporters, take turns asking the monster a question.
  6. Monster, answer every question in your silly monster voice.
Ask: What is the silliest answer you can think of?
  7. After three questions, give a big roar and pick a new monster.
  8. Try a twist: the monster can only whisper, sing or squeak.
  9. Now interview a new monster, or invite someone else to join! Who will you meet next?
Ask: What new monster would you invent next time?
