Dinner that the kids decorate themselves.
Reviewed by our team.
Safety first
- Oven is adult only
- Cut veggies into strips for under 4s, never round coins
- Let pizzas cool 5 minutes before anyone touches them: the cheese stays very hot.
- Halve cherry tomatoes and olives lengthwise for under 4s.
- Check for wheat and milk allergies before you start.
What you need
- English muffins, 2, split into 4 halves
- Tomato sauce
- Shredded cheese
- Soft veggies (peppers, cucumber)
- Baking sheet
- Knife, 1, for the grown-up
- Spoon, 1
- Bowl, a few small
- Oven mitts, 1 pair
How to do it
Grown-up prep: Slice veggies into strips and small pieces and set out in bowls.
- A grown-up preheats the oven to 400°F. A grown-up does this
- Wash your hands, pizza chefs!
- Lay the English muffin halves on the cold tray, cut side up.
- Spread sauce on each muffin half.
- Sprinkle cheese for hair or a beard.
- Make eyes, a nose and a mouth with veggies. Ask: Who is your pizza face?
- Add a finishing touch, like ears, a hat or freckles.
- Bake at 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes, until the cheese bubbles. A grown-up does this
- Wait for the pizzas to cool, then find your own face.
- Introduce your pizza face to the family before the first bite! Ask: Whose face will you make next time?
Play it again
- Animal pizzas: make a cat, a lion or an owl instead of a face.
- Copy chef: one chef makes a face and everyone else tries to copy it exactly.
- Mystery face: make a pizza of someone at the table, and everyone guesses who it is.
